Cyclone Biparjoy expected to impact Oman

Muscat and other governorates of the Sultanate of Oman are preparing for the possible affect of Tropical Cyclone Biparjoy in the coming days.

Oman Meteorology reported that the tropical state that Biparjoy had developed into a first-class tropical cyclone which may start to have a direct impact on the Sultanate’s coasts from Sunday (11 June) or the morning of Monday 12 June, if the cyclone's path towards the north and northwest is realised.

The cyclone is continuing to move north towards the center of the Arabian Sea and is now centred 1,133km from the coast of Oman.

There is currently no information from the authorities of Port of Duqm regarding possible port closure.
