Construction of temporary cofferdam west of Pulau Punggol Barat

Construction work is underway, until 2 September, for a temporary cofferdam at the mouth of Sungei Punggol Reservoir.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.22 of 2023, the works is being conducted from 0800 to 1900 hours daily - including Saturdays, Sundays and

Public Holidays - within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01° 25.597'N / 103° 52.153'E
2) 01° 25.488'N / 103° 52.028'E
3) 01° 25.480'N / 103° 52.093'E
4) 01° 25.558'N / 103° 52.182'E

The construction of the temporary cofferdam involves installation of silt curtains, sheet piles and guide beams, backfilling of sand and tie-rod installation.

Safety boats are deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.

Craft involved in the works exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 21 (Sembawang Control);
and
e) Communicate with Sembawang Control on VHF Channel 21 for assistance, if required.
