Channel draft reduction

11 Dec 2023 / Krishnapatnam, India

Over the weekend, the Port of Krishnapatnam brought shifted vessels back to Berth Nos. 2, 3 4 & 5 and cargo operations are ongoing.

According to unofficial sources, there is significant decrease in the channel draft. However, flooding in the channel has come down.

It is understood that the port has brought in two dredgers and channel dredging is underway from today (11 December) for 3-4 days, after which a survey will be conducted to assess the draft situation.

It is further understood that there is no possibility to berth Cape vessels during the next 15 days due to decrease in draft in the channel and alongside berths.
