Change to LNG tanker passage planning

06 Jan 2025 / Canakkale Strait, Turkey

There has been a small change to the implementation planning of LNG traffic in the Canakkale Strait this season, compared to previous winter periods.

Passage priority will be given during laden passage according to the cargo discharge date agreed with Botas.

Passage priority will be given during ballast passage as well. However, if there is northbound traffic planned for daylight restricted ships during daytime, ballast LNG vessels will wait for next southbound traffic, usually the next day.

This change is needed due to time loss if the traffic direction is changed for ballast LNG passage. It will enable the scheduling of at least two more daylight-restricted tankers per day when one-way traffic is planned.
