Cautionary Signal No. III

09 Sep 2024 / Kakinada, India

Kakinada Anchorage Port has hoisted cautionary signal No. III due to a cyclonic warning in the Bay of Bengal.

Despite normal vessel movements at Kakinada Seaports Limited, rain continues to affect loading and discharging operations.

India’s Meteorological Department has issued a warning for ports that states that the depression over Westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal has moved north-northwestwards and is very likely to move towards north Odisha-West Bengal coasts and intensify into a deep depression. Thereafter, it is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross Odisha and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Puri and Digha around this evening/night (9 September). Continuing to move further westnorthwestwards, it is likely to move across Odisha & adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand & adjoining north Chhattisgarh during subsequent 2 days.

The warning instructs the ports of Kalingapatnam, Bheemunipatnam, Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram and Kakinada to keep hoisted the local cautionary signal number-III (LC-III), and for Machilipatnam, Nizampatnam and Krishnapatnam at ports to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number-I (DC-I).
