Cargo discrepancies

10 Mar 2025 / Indonesia

Based on Indonesia’s regulations concerning differences in weight/volume of bulk goods subject to export duty, the tolerance of difference in cargo quantity discharged against Bill of Lading figures is 0.5%.

If exceeded, this will attract a customs penalty. The administrative sanctions should be paid by the transporter.

The penalty amount is min. 25 million IDR and max. 250 million IDR equivalent to approx. USD 1,700 – 17,000.

Units used for Customs report before vessel’s arrival will be in Litter, Metric Ton, Barrels, etc. depending on the cargo type.

Any discrepancies should be managed carefully to avoid unnecessary penalties and delays.
