Canal clear after grounded vessel refloated

The Suez Canal is today (6 March) completely clear and navigation running as normal following the clearance of a container ship which grounded at KM 78 during its transit at 15:00 hours local time yesterday (5 March).

With the assistance of Suez Canal Authority tugs, the vessel was safely refloated at 19:30 hours local time, and resumed its transit followed by 19 ship behind it in the northbound convoy.

Southbound convoy ships were not effected and transited directly to Suez port with no stop due to this incident.

The Suez Canal Authority arranged today’s convoys as follows:
- Southbound Convoy: 44 ships
- Northbound Convoy: 41 ships
