Work has begun at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Shallow Water Berth (NSDT) to upgrade permissible displacement from 32,500 MT to 45,000 MT, facilitating higher cargo volumes.

The work will be carried out in four phases of 45 days each. During the first phase, scheduled to be completed by mid- to end-February 2025, only vessels up to 160 metres in length can be accommodated.

The permissibility of vessel lengths for the remaining phases will be advised as the work progresses.
