01 Mar 2022 / Port Kembla, Australia

As of 1100 hours local time today (1 March), the anchorage off the coast of Port Kembla is closed until the winds subside and the swell decreases. All ships are to remain at least 12NM offshore.

A Severe Weather Warning is in effect for the region, with high winds up to 40 knots and seas up to 7m forecast. Pilots will assess shipping movements on a case-by-case basis for safe entry or removal of vessels during this period.

Ships already in Port are required to drop their seaside anchor and run extra lines as necessary.
