Anchorage closed

28 Jan 2025 / Port Kembla, Australia

Port Kembla anchorage is closed to shipping from 11:30 hours local time today (28 January), due to severe weather including high swell and strong winds. All vessels are ordered to drift off port at a safe distance 12nm off the coast and monitor VHF radio channels 11 and 16.

The port remains open to harbour movements but may face some disruption with pilotage. Shipping will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Vessels in port may drop their seaside anchor and run extra lines as needed and are encouraged to contact VTS if further information is required.
