Additional safety measures

The construction of an additional liquid terminal is being carried out by ITD Cementation India Ltd., south west of the BPCL Liquid Cargo Jetty at a distance of 50 metres onwards from the southern mooring dolphin.

In view of the same, additional safety measures as detailed below must be complied with by all vessels calling at the BPCL Liquid Cargo Jetty.

For All Tankers:

  1. All tanks must be inert condition with O² content equal to or less than 5%, LEL less than 2%.
  2. Only HVV or P/V valves to be used for venting or emergency venting.
  3. Venting through mast risers or vent risers shall be avoided.
  4. Avoid accumulation of gas cloud formation in the open deck spaces.
  5. Fire main shall be charged/running at all times.
  6. Deck safety rounds shall be diligently taken with special view of fire hazard.
  7. All LSA & FFA items to be in a state of readiness and no maintenance work to eb carried out on the same during the stay in port.
  8. Main engine is not to be immobilised.
  9. When carrying out multiple grades no mixing on vapour side, each tank to be individually lines up of group wise on the PV side.
  10. Fixed gas detection system shall be kept on at all times. Portable/Personal gas meters to be used in main deck areas and open spaces.
  11. All Fire & Safety regulations as per ISGOTT to be maintained.
  12. Lines and connections should be pressure tested so that no leads liquid/vapour is found.
  13. Pre-arrival check as per ISGOTT in terms of alarms & trips to be tried out and record to be retained for reference purposes.
  14. Anenometer must be in good working order.
  15. Extra fire extinguishers to be kept on the southern side and charged fire hose to be kept ready.
  16. Fireman’s outfit & kit to be kept in state of readiness and in accessible location.
  17. Oxygen-Acetylene bottle rooms to be disconnected and locked.
