40-year ports Master Plan released

05 Jun 2023 / New South Wales, Australia

NSW Ports, the private operator of Port Kembla, Port Botany & Kurnell has released their 40-year Master Plan and the 5 main Objectives as following:

  • NATION - Cater for the trade needs of NSW and Australia.
  • LAND USE - Ensure the efficient and responsible use of land and infrastructure.
  • MOVEMENT - Grow the volume of freight moved by rail and improve the efficiency of road connections.
  • PLACE - Protect our ports, freight-related lands and freight transport routes.
  • CAPACITY - Grow freight handling capacity.

NSW Ports 2063 outlines the priorities and the actions we believe are required for a sustainable and efficient port supply chain.

Delivering on this Plan is contingent on all parts of the supply chain operating effectively. Catering for the State’s future growth will require significant collaboration between Government, private enterprise and the community, together with investment.

Our Master Plan identifies five objectives to sustainably cater for forecast trade growth. Achieving these objectives will contribute to sustainable ports and supply chains – reducing emissions, minimising community impacts and supporting the competitiveness of exports and cost-effective goods for consumers and businesses.
