2nd postponement of draft reductions for Neopanamax locks

14 Mar 2022 / Panama Canal, Panama

Recent precipitation in the Canal watershed in the past few days has allowed the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) to postpone once again the draft adjustments in the Neopanamax locks announced in Advisory to Shipping A-08-2022.

Therefore, the maximum authorized transit draft for the Neopanamax locks will remain at 15.24m (50.0 ft) until March 23, 2022. Effective March 24, 2022, the maximum authorized draft for vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks will be 15.09m (49.5 ft) TFW.

In addition, effective April 9, 2022, the maximum authorized draft for vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks will be 14.94m (49.0 ft) TFW.

The ACP continues to monitor the level of Gatun Lake in order to announce future draft adjustments in a timely manner.
