Tugs and barges are the workhorses of the offshore and marine world. They transport all types of cargo, often to remote areas with little infrastructure.

Back in the 60s-70s, tugs and barges are the traditional modes of sea transportation in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. Cargoes were carried by barges on tow to ships alongside for loading at the inner anchorage. They are also used for cargo discharging from ships for towing to the various destinations.

Today, tugs and barges are used by some river ports with shallow water, and for carrying cargo for construction projects and offshore deliveries. GAC Hong Kong offers tug and barge services for assisting in a safe midstream oil and gas operation, towing and offshore support.
