India, 7 February 2013 – GAC India has been appointed as the liner agent for Mumbai-based Sarjak Container Lines Pvt Ltd (Sarjak) in Cochin and Tuticorin. This further extends the two companies’ cooperation which started in 2011 and already covers operations in Delhi, northern India and Chennai.
Gracias Thevar, GAC India’s Country Manager, Logistics Services, says: “This further appointment is an affirmation of the confidence Sarjak has in GAC India and the specialised services we provide. We take pride in helping to deliver Sarjak’s strategies and support its quest to become a top special equipment container operator in the region.”
Sarjak specialises in the transportation of Over Dimensioned Cargo (ODC) in containers, by its fleet of hard top, open top, flat rack, super rack and GP containers. The main cargoes handled from the region include transformers, boilers, chiller units, pressure vessels, sugar manufacturing plants, oil well equipment, and various engineering goods.
Mr Kalpesh Jagani, President of Sarjak Container Lines Pvt. Ltd. says the expansion into Cochin and Tuticorin is in line with the company’s growth strategy: “These are two relatively untapped ODC markets for us, and we believe that choosing the right partner can help improve our competitive strength and pave the way for new thresholds.
