The weather can have a huge impact on safe, profitable shipping and smart route planning can help you select the optimum route to ensure economy and the safety of your vessels, cargoes and crews. GAC-SMHI Weather Solutions provide a package which includes onboard weather routing and online performance analysis to give you the basis to make the right decisions for your vessels.
GAC-SMHI Weather Solutions is a strategic alliance between GAC and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) formed specifically to offer a range of customised products and meteorological expertise to help global maritime business enhance safety and increase fuel cost savings (not least in good weather).
Key advantages include:
GAC-SMHI Weather Solutions’ wide ranges of weather solutions and related services are used by owners/operators in all shipping sectors, including tankers, dry bulk, Ro/Ro, reefers, car carriers, container ships and other specialised vessels.
We provide the tools you need for the optimum management of your fleet, with a total concept where:
Our custom-made on-line application Fleetweb keeps you up-to-date with the latest real-time ships information and weather observations online, enabling you to keep an eye on your individual ships’ status anywhere in the world. Global weather forecast, SatC polling/4times per day, the daily reports and all the performance information are provided.
Fleetweb uses modern visualisation technology, service design and advanced intuitive monitoring interface. By linking several systems to each other, you get a total overview of the fleet, while ensuring optimum use of your vessels. It now also gives you the benefits of careful monitoring, SMHI's forecasts and observations, and data reported by vessels - in a single system, significantly enhancing your proactive communication options.
Analyses of past performance and estimates based on voyage predictions mean you can take action to reduce fuel consumption and minimise the risk of your vessels arriving late, as well as ensuring vessel, cargo and crew safety.
SMHI Onboard Routing (SOR) is an advanced onboard planning software-based service (normal PC and e-mail required). Allowing ships’ Masters to receive and view high quality weather forecast from SMHI and optimise their routes, and analysis for the next or current voyage, allowing fuel savings and bad weather avoidance. Combined with route advice from SMHI’s highly skilled marine meteorologists, this represents a powerful tool to help the Master to do the right thing in the right time.
Alternatively use our new hardware and software to optimise the voyage also with respect to your existing ECDIS/ENC onboard. Hence do the route planning not only with respect to weather and ocean current, but also depth and other sea chart info, all being done within one single system onboard.
Simply and without any work from your side- this feature allows the reports from your vessels to be evaluated with GAC-SMHI Weather Solutions’ high class wind, wave and ocean current data bases. Distinguish the true impact from wind, waves and ocean current from any erroneously reported data from the deck logs due to incorrect observation methods.
The Performance Analysis gives you an accurate insight into your vessel’s true performance.
VisPer (Visualise Performance data) is set to strengthen ship owners’ or operators’ ability to optimise their vessels' performances. The application enables you to combine the vessels’ reported data with GAC-SMHI Weather Solutions’ advanced meteorological and oceanographic data to create graphical representations that are clear, easy to analyse, and point significantly towards action outcomes.
VisPer is the powerful tool enabling you to view and filter the huge amount of complex data derived from the Performance Analysis. It may also help you to see new relations between the parameters affecting your ship´s performance. You will be able to detect increased fuel consumption due to marine growth in order to identify when hull/propeller cleaning is recommended. Erroneous data may easily be detected within the unique graphical visualisation technique. Easily create your own reports and export your own filtered data into Excel or pdf files for use within your own organisation’s existing system.
|Post Voyage Analysis||
Our PVA (Post Voyage Analysis) service combines recorded data with the Captain's reported information to provide a reliable performance evaluation for each individual voyage. Starting points include speed, weather and current along the entire route of a voyage, before customised performance and fuel consumption are added to the formula.
|Fuel Time Analysis||
Compare actual sailed voyages with recommended routes based on ETA or speed settings. The analysis can be done before, during or after each voyage, and it gives full details of how GAC-SMHI recommendations have (or could have) saved in time and fuel.
