Port monitoring tropical low

The Port of Dampier is currently at Cyclone Stage 1 – Monitor in light of a developing Tropical Low. This stage involves monitoring the weather system and assessing its likely path and potential impact on the Port of Dampier.

The Tropical Low is developing near 13.5S 120.4E, and is forecast to track slowly west then south from tomorrow (21 March) towards the Pilbara coast. It could cross the coast as early as Thursday (23 March).

Possible crossing locations cover the Pilbara coast near and west of Port Hedland, although the area near Port Hedland is looking less likely.

Gail force winds are likely to impact the coastal areas from as early as Wednesday and significant swell may be experienced in the SE Quadrant of the system
