Dredging in Western Dangerous Goods Anchorage

For approximately 7 months, dredging operations will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (J):
(A) 22 deg. 19.209’N / 114 deg. 06.749’E
(B) 22 deg. 19.198’N / 114 deg. 07.022’E
(C) 22 deg. 19.157’N / 114 deg. 07.106’E
(D) 22 deg. 19.061’N / 114 deg. 07.050’E
(E) 22 deg. 19.090’N / 114 deg. 06.993’E
(F) 22 deg. 19.087’N / 114 deg. 06.790’E
(G) 22 deg. 18.748’N / 114 deg. 06.167’E
(H) 22 deg. 18.817’N / 114 deg. 06.123’E
(I) 22 deg. 18.890’N / 114 deg. 06.161’E
(J) 22 deg. 19.042’N / 114 deg. 06.441’E

In conjunction with the temporarily demarcation of the boundary of the works area arising from the dredging operations, three light buoys namely “Northern 4”, “Kellett North” and “WQ” will be relocated temporarily about 50 metres northward or north-westward from their charted positions to the following positions (WGS 84 Datum) respectively on 16 May 2017:

Light buoy “Northern 4”: (B)
22 deg. 19.198’N / 114 deg. 07.022’E

Light buoy “Kellett North”: (I)
22 deg. 18.890’N / 114 deg. 06.161’E

Light buoy “WQ”: (J)
22 deg. 19.042’N / 114 deg. 06.441’E

The dredging operations will be carried out after the temporary relocation of the three light buoys “Northern 4”, “Kellett North” and “WQ”.

The works will be carried out by a grab dredger. Three tugboats and three split hopper barges will assist in the works. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around the grab dredger will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the grab dredger.

The works will be carried out round-the-clock.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
